Save Money on Groceries

Several years ago, a friend told me that her and her husband only went to the grocery store once a week and that it saved them a lot of money. I never quite understood that concept until about three years ago. My husband and I sit down once a week and come up with a menu for the entire week. I leave this up to my husband most of the time since he has a better imagination about things and I usually don't care what I eat, just as long as I'm eating.

He makes the menu for the entire week. Everything that we are going to have every single night for our dinner. Then we write down our grocery list and head to the store. If you go into the store and purchase what is only on your list, you save yourself from impulse buying. I have really noticed that this does save us a lot of money! When we go in and we are not prepared, we end up buying things we do not need that end up sitting in the cabinets forever or we end up forgetting something to go along with a dish. If we end up shopping at Walmart, we usually end up throwing many things we don't need into the buggy. Also, do not go to the store on an empty stomach, or you will end up buying a lot of junk food.
