Our cell phone plans
Ok... I did it. I called the cell phone company a few days ago and chose a cheaper package on our cell phones. We have four cell phones in our house and one wireless computer modem. We pay around $380 a month with 4000 anytime minutes on our plan and free mobile to mobile, family texting and the internet on two of those phones. My teenage son has the new 3G IPhone. This phone is sweet! It does everything.. even takes your pulse! Of course, he has to have the internet on his phone... after all, he is The I.T. Guy of the house and has to be up on all the latest technology! My daughter has a phone on our plan and was added on for $9.95 month and she has the internet. She could not get a cell phone that cheap anywhere else. We all have family texting and picture sending. It's a good thing... between two kids that send texts more than they talk, it would literally cost us the price of a car each month!
Since my husband has gotten a job local and no longer driving a truck across country, we don't talk on our cell phones near as often as we used to. I usually only talk to him one or two times a day versus too many times to count! He also isn't having to call suppliers and dispatchers all the time. So, I cut our 4000 minutes down to 2100 between all of our phones. I am probably thinking that I could have gotten by with the 1400 package, but the lady suggested trying this out for a month and making sure.
By not needing the wireless modem anymore, I could not cancel the service on it since we are under contract with it. She transferred it to another phone line, making it now $9.95 a month instead of paying around $60 a month. We are now saving approx. $90 a month on our cell phones. Next month, I will evaluate if I can move it down to another lower package.
