Turn a Bread Pan into a Window Planter

Project Estimate:

  • Loaf Pan, $1
  • 3 Succulents, $1 each
  • Potting Soil, $1
  • Hammer & nail or awl, on hand
Use the hammer and awl/nail to poke evenly-space drainage holes in the bottom of the bread pan. If using a nail, widen the holes by pushing in an old screwdriver.

Gently remove the plants from their pots and place in the bread pan. Fill the pan with the soil, water lightly and you're done! Succulents like bright, filtered sunlight, good air circulation and a watering once every week or two. (Better to water too little than too much.)

Total cost: $5

* I have seen many times at Goodwill or other thrift stores, bread pans very cheap. Yard sales are also another good place to pick them up at for a quarter or so.
